The seirin brand stands for GMP: Good
Manufacturing Practice. Seirin is the leading worldwide producer of acupuncture
needles. The corporation was founded in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka city Japan in 1978
by Tsuyoshi Suzuki. This company was founded at the onset on the need for
sterile disposable needles in the field of acupuncture. Thus under the
philosophy of “Contributing to the Actualization of Safe and Effective
Acupuncture Medicine” Seirin produced the worlds first sterile disposable
needles. With the push by governments and the health organizations for hygienic preservation after the HIV pandemic, seirin was well received by oversea
markets such as Germany and US.
Each acupuncture practice goes with a
specific needle type; this depends on the type of condition being treated and
also the choice of the patient. Seirin therefore produces various needle types
they include and not limited to, type L, type B, type J type M and several
others. All this needles have distinct characteristics, the J type has a handle
made of plastic and its guide tube is joined with ultra sound that prevents unnecessary
pain to the patient. The L type needle has a handle made of stainless steel
that enables it to be used with moxa during acupuncture. The B type on the
other end is not similar to others as it does not have an insertion tube. All
these products enhance the superiority of Seirin and its products.
